How to Calculate Your Grade

Multiply each category score by its weight: Overall = Sum(Grade x Weight). For a class with Homework 90% (30%), Midterm 85% (30%), Final unknown (40%): current = 52.5% out of 60% weighted.

What Do I Need on the Final?

Required = (Target - Current Weighted) / (1 - Final Weight). To get 80% with 52.5% earned and final worth 40%: (80 - 52.5) / 0.40 = 68.75%. You need 69% on the final.

  • A+ (97-100): 4.0 | A (93-96): 4.0 | A- (90-92): 3.7
  • B+ (87-89): 3.3 | B (83-86): 3.0 | B- (80-82): 2.7
  • C+ (77-79): 2.3 | C (73-76): 2.0 | C- (70-72): 1.7
  • D (60-69): 1.0 | F (below 60): 0.0
